Personal History Hale was born on Earth’s Moon and raised there, enjoying the view of the blue planet and the stars above him. He was an excitable child who loved the stars and the wonders of technology that enabled them to live where they lived. It was only natural he’d join Starfleet, since he always wanted to. His mother was very relieved when he got accepted, since she doubted he’d survive the disappointment of not getting in.

Hale went to the first class with a new PADD, in his cadet uniform, and incredible happy. He tried to make friends the first day, although he might have scared some people away with his energy, which was positively golden retriever with a dash of chocolate labrador. He did calm down after a few weeks, more because the lack of sleep sucked some energy from him. He started his Engineering course, finding himself fascinated by it all.

His second year, he had made friends and ended up with a bit of a crush on one of the other cadets, although he didn’t return the attraction. So two months were spent with Hale heartbroken, which unfortunately affected his overall scores that year.

The third year he applied himself more, focusing on getting his grades better. He withdrew a little from his friends, spending his free time either studying or exploring the local area. He felt lonely but would later say that the year got him back on track.

His fourth year was one of great focus and many distractions. There were more demands on the cadets, more training, more real life situations. Hale’s excitement for working with people and his passion for engineering did show, although his concentration often broke and he would either be thinking about something else, or daydreaming, or even just thinking about what he’d eat.

He graduated with alright marks, happy to just be graduating and finally able to take his place in Starfleet. His first posting, the USS Quebec, might just not be exactly what he had hoped to get…
