Umok idolizes Worf son of Mogh, and considerers him a role model and inspiration… even though they have never met. Many of the dioramas he constructs feature notable moments in Worf’s career.

Personal History As a child, Umok knew he was destined for Glory! The child of two honored officers in the Klingon Defense Force, he was deadly with Daqtagh by the age of four. As his training and education developed, he discovered an affinity for biology and anatomy, and became fascinated by the prospect he could use such knowledge to not only inflict mortal wounds, but to heal. The possibility of studying as a physician began to haunt him – doctors were unlikely to bring honor to their families, but he felt as if he had a calling from Kahless himself. Umok resolved that he would seek out and attend a respected medical school once he was of age… once he worked up the courage to face his parents and inform them of his decision.

Such a confrontation was never to come, as both his parents and his uncle were killed in battle. Umok went to live with his uncle’s human ex-wife, Becky, on Earth. Becky had no compunctions with Umok becoming a doctor and even encouraged him to apply to Starfleet Medical. After all, there was already one Klingon serving in Starfleet – why not make it two?

Umok thrived both in his studies and in the Academy’s Drama Department, learning how to perform surgeries by day and direct musicals by night. He also started to follow the career of the other Klingon in Starfleet very closely, lifting him up as an exemplar of serving with distinction as a product of two cultures.

After graduation Dr. Umok was assigned as a medical officer at Starbase 4. Though proud to serve, he did feel the assignment was a little bit racist given the station’s proximity to the Federation/Klingon border. No one had said as much, but he felt it was just a little too obvious of a posting. Whatever, it could have been a coincidence. And he did gain the experience to apply for an opening as Assistant Chief Medical Officer aboard the Defiant class USS Wasp. But still, it was a little on the nose. Just sayin.

Serving with distinction until the Wasp was lost in battle, Umok is ready to assume a new posting and face any injury, ailment, or medical anomaly the universe throws at him.
